Product Description HOOVER® STEAM VACUUMS SteamVac SpinScrub Hoover steam vacuums clean spots and stains on your floors with ease. Hoover vacuums use a powerful 12 amp motor to propel 5 spin scrub brushes that wash and wipe away spots and stains. Includes extra long 24L power cord for efficient use in large rooms. Tool kit includes spin scrub powered hand tool, on board hose and upholstery tool. Includes 16 oz. detergent. 1 year warranty.
Amazon.com This powerful home steam vacuum saves you the expense and hassle of having to rent a steam cleaner and keeps rugs, upholstery, and bare floors (other than hardwoods) looking like new. The powerful 12-amp motor combined with five spinning brushes that operate at either high or low speed lift the usual dirt and grime out of carpets. By pulling on the trigger in the comfortable upright handle, this deep cleaner releases the included carpet/upholstery cleaner and hot tap water. For more stubborn stains or for high-traffic areas, this SteamVac also has a Clean Surge feature, which sends an extra blast of cleaning solution into the stain by simply pressing a button on the handle. When cleaning is complete, release the trigger and the SteamVac forces hot air into the cleaning path so you can do a few dry strokes over the stain. This deep cleaner has two separate water tanks to keep clean water apart from dirty water. The top tank holds the detergent and 1 gallon of hot water and automatically mixes the two so you don't need to get your hands wet. The lower tank holds the dirty solution picked up from the carpet and unlatches to easily pour out into a sink without spilling. For cleaning stairs or upholstery, this deep cleaner has a long 8-foot hose and a special stair/upholstery nozzle that scrubs out spots. Other features of this deep cleaner include a brush indicator, which informs you that the brushes are spinning; an on/off foot pedal; a handle release pedal; and a 27-inch wraparound cord. The Hoover SteamVac is covered by a full one-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Can't beat it for the price March 15, 2010 Catrinka (TN) I have been through multiple steam cleaners. All of which I was excited to purchase and get home but when I used them I ended up disappointed. When my latest Bissel bit the dust I had already made up my mind about certain features I expected out of my next machine.
1. Clean water tank and return tank had to be separate
2. Ease of use
3. Light weight and easy to carry up and down stairs
4. Multiple brushes
5. Great suction
6. Reasonably priced
7. Water remains hot
I'm a "hard" shopper. I review, review, review, compare prices and shop for the best value for my dollar. I must say I made the right choice with my Hoover SteamVac F5914-900! I am delighted with it. When I recieved it I removed it from the box and assembled it without help from my husband. It took me maybe 15 minutes. It is easy to fill and empty because the clean water tank and the return tank are seperate. (This is a must) I am also one who thrives on "instant satisfaction" and when I could actually see the nasty water being sucked into the return tank...well I had to call my husband to witness and celebrate what an awesome job this little machine was doing. Filling and emptying the tanks are done with ease. And, I can tell a big difference in the cleaning results of the carpet. I even use it on my hardwood and tile sometimes. The round rotating brushes work so much better than the forward spinning ones that are on most machines.
At first I was a little disappointed because it was awkward carrying up and down stairs. Then I figured out that you can grab it right above the clean water tank and it makes carrying it a lot easier. Another thing that I discovered is that if you find that it does not have suction, check your tanks to make sure they are seated correctly. If they aren't you won't have suction.
This is absolutley the best bang for your buck and a great little machine. I shopped locally and on the internet for the exact model and couldn't find it for less than $189.00. I got the free shipping from Amazon too so I really got a great deal.
If you are looking for a great steam cleaner at a great price...the Hoover SteamVac F5914-900 is it!
Hoover Steam Vac Carpet/Floor cleaner March 14, 2010 Critch (Yorktown, VA) This machine does a good job, has good suction action. It is a bit laborsome to clean but worth it.
Unbelievably great machine! March 14, 2010 S. Babineaux (Louisiana) We just purchased this last week after reading Mary Hunt's syndicated column about it. And thank goodness we did. We had a flood from a washing machine in the house last night, it has done WONDERS extracting water from our carpets and also the wooden floors. I highly recommend this product. Little did I know we would need it for this kind of purpose. And it has risen to the occasion.
Am Pleased with the purchase. March 14, 2010 Adrian M. Chene I was very pleased with the purchase. It was smooth and transaction went just as I had hoped.
Over all good product with a couple of draw backs March 13, 2010 R. Claros (SoCal) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have owed carpet cleaners for over 10 years and use them in my home. I previously owned Bissell brand machines. Had a total of three. The first one was great, left carpet clean and fairly dry, so when it was time to replace I tried the new Bissells with 12 rows of carpet cleaners and heat....total disapointments. They left the carpet totally wet, leaked dirty water, nightmares...so back to Costco they went.
I decided on the Hoover SteamVac after reading the reviewes here. My experince so far has been that this machine is an over all good household cleaner, but has a couple of drawbacks.
Pros:
1. Great suction - leaves carpets only slightly moist - exactly what I would expect for quick dry times.
2. Separate clean and dirty water containers (easier to gauge need to refill/empty)
3. Hand tool has rotating brushes.
4. "CLEAN SURGE" deposits more cleaning solution.
Cons:
1. No way to stop the suction and have scrubbers do the work.
2. No additional heat added to the solution.
3. Hand tool hose not easily connected.
4. Hand tool hose feels 'cheap'
re Cons. 1. Previous carpet cleaners I owned had a way to have the brushes continue rotating without suction. This machine uses the power of the suction to turn the brushes, it's either both, or none. Same for the hand held tool.
2. Other machines add heat to the solution to keep it warm or heat it up. Once your solution is cold on this machine, it is cold on the floor. Not a major draw back but not a pro.
3. Connecting the hand tool hose is not very straight forward. Had to look at the instructions a couple of times before I figured it out. Have to connect to two different spots. Putting it away took looking at the instructions as well.
4. Don't know how long the tool will last, but it doesn't feel as high quality as others I have used.
Over all good buy for light to moderate house use. Worth the $$ I paid for it.
