Amazon.com Review
Ideal for the chemically sensitive or those with small children, the Bissell Steam Mop deep-cleans hard-surface floors using the power of pure water alone. No harsh (or expensive) cleaners means no fumes or residues to irritate lungs or muddy delicate finishes, while the use of hot steam rather than buckets of water leaves floors dry in just seconds. Heated and ready to use in 30 seconds, the remarkably quiet mechanism works something like an iron: steam is dispensed on demand, rather than continuously, by pressing the trigger while passing the mop over the floor. Hot steam easily removes hardened and sticky gunk, especially if the mop sits over the mess for a few seconds. (Leave it in place 15 seconds to actually sanitize the cleaning surface.) The machine steams for approximately 15 minutes before the tank needs to be refilled, but there's no lag once you refill it.

The Steam Mop's low-profile 360-degree swiveling head accesses hard-to-reach nooks and crannies, like under kitchen cabinets, while its compact profile stores easily in small spaces. Other thoughtful design touches include a quick-release cord wrap and easy-carry handle, as well as a built-in water filter to protect from the minerals and impurities in hard water. (An indicator lets users know when the filter need to be replaced.) Durable, reusable microfiber pads are safe on all sealed hard surfaces and clean up nicely in the washing machine, making them more environmentally friendly than disposable options. Measuring 6 by 11 by 45-1/2 inches, the Bissell Steam Mop weighs less than 7 pounds and is covered by a one-year limited warranty.--Mary Park

5 out of 5 stars Great Steam Mop at Affordable Price   March 16, 2010
K. C. Kuntz (Portland, OR)
The Bissell 1867-7 Steam Mop works great. I have the vinyl wood plank style flooring that sticks together with an adhesive seam that creates a waterproof floor. I was worried that that steam mop might actually heat the adhesive seams and break the waterproof seal, but that was not the case. It cleaned my floors beautifully and was easy to use. My daughter had a new puppy in her room. We found that the puppy had been urinating behind her desk and the urine stains had been there a while, like a couple weeks, so had crystallized in some parts. Very gross. The steam mop had no problem getting the entire mess up. We did go through 2 pads to finish the job because there was quite a volume of mess. Thank goodness the steam mop came with 2 pads. I love the fact that the pads are washable and can just be thrown in the washer and dryer. No extra pad costs every month. I would recommend getting a couple extra pads if you have a large house and want to mop everything at once. A single pad usually cleans one room before needing laundered. If the floors are especially dirty (like with my 3 dogs muddy feet), you may need two mop pads per room. The pads are easy to put on and take off the mop. The mop heats up pretty quick and is easy to push around. Other steam mops have the water reservoir in the bottom of the mop which means you have to use more effort to push the mop around and steam the floors. This mop seems to have the right balance with the water reservoir being along the length of the handle without being bulky. I would recommend this mop and have recommended it to several friends and relatives already.

3 out of 5 stars It's OK   March 14, 2010

Found that it does work. It's steam generation is pretty weak. All I seem to be doing is a good wet mop without chemicals.

4 out of 5 stars Bissell Steam Mop a good product   March 12, 2010
SF (New Jersey, USA)
I'm a single guy and I'm not a neat freak. But I have 2 dogs and a cat so my floors get dirty. This item is great. It's ready to use in a few seconds and it does a really good job cleaning the floors without much effort. I've noticed some minor streaking but not too noticeable. I highly recommend this steam mop for everybody.

5 out of 5 stars Steam Mop   March 7, 2010

It does a very good job cleaning our tile floor. Its fast and easy to handle and push

It does leave the floor wet. Thats the only complaint I have.

3 out of 5 stars It's sorta ok, but could be better !   March 3, 2010
D. J. Bell (Wash, DC)
I was searching for a proper solution for the all tile floors in a one bedroom apartment with kitchenette. I was tired for spending half of my life cleaning floors, so I gave it a try. It will never compare to a solid old fashioned cleaning. Nothing ever seems to. I viewed the videos on this item before purchase. But they only showed them cleaning a small portion, like two rows of tile or something. You may have to change pads and water from time to time. Bissell recommends distilled water, though they say it uses tap water. Once the pad is saturated with water, or you try to rinse it out, it will leave pools of water, and really doesn't do a great job. There are other models on the internet to check out. The totally ability of the steam mop depends on its absorbant quality. The Eureka 313A Enviro Hard-Surface Floor Steamer seems to be a good model to consider.
