 Good Carpet Suction Otherwise Not Happy With Hoover July 26, 2010

I am not happy with this Hoover Vacuum. In the past (and I certainly thought it remained so today) Hoover was one of the best vacuums there was. I purchased this Hoover WindTunnel Cannister Anniversary Edition Bagged S3670 Vacuum a while ago and only now had the opportunity to write this review. I will be brief:
Pros (only one):
It is a great vacuum when it comes to cleaning your carpets. The suction is fantastic but a vacuum should do more than just clean carpets.
Cons:
-IT IS HEAVY
-DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER
-DOES NOT CLEAN FLOORS WELL (floor attachment doesn't fit on the wand-must force it on hence suction is not great)
-TERRIBLE ATTACHMENTS (much too small and the brush attachment is angled awkwardly so it is hard to clean certain areas). I use my old brush attachment[force it on] which is soooo much better than Hoover's
-SMALL FILTER BAGS
-DIRT (FLUFF) GETS CAUGHT IN THE TOP OF THE CARPET ATTACHMENT AND CANNOT BE REMOVED UNLESS IT IS TAKEN APART WHICH IS EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT. WHY DOESN'T IT GO INTO THE FILTER BAG???
-AND IT SMELLS (I agree with another reviewer that you need to change the filter bag when it is half full and I do not have a dog!!)

After reading all the reviews about the Hoover Anniversary edition, we decided to purchase it. We are a small animal clinic and we go through a vacuum every 2 years or less. We received the vacuum on June 17th, and by June 30th, the beater brush no longer worked. Did I mention that we had used the vaccuum exactly 5 times. Needless to say, we will now purchase from a local dealer that will service what they sell. Hoover would not give us any satisfaction unless we took it to a certified repair shop(understandable) but the nearest one was over 50 miles away (maybe need to certify a few more. We had purchased the vacuum from Amazon.com and I can't say enough about them- a few simple minutes on the computer and we had a return label the next day and a credit within a week. Thanks Amazon.

About a month ago I bought a Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum, Anniversary Edition, Bagged, S3670 after checking out several other makes. Decided on this particular one after looking over the reviews and also in talking to someone who had a different make that I had been considering. It has powerful suction, does a great job on my hardwood floors and a long reach for dusting over windows and draperies. It is a bit heavier than I would like and a little difficult for me to separate the wand and remove the floor brush (I'm 77 years old and not too strong). But I appreciate that it's very well made and does what I expected it to do. I believe it to be a good value for the price. Would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a canister vac.

I have mixed feelings about this vacuum. The rotating brushes work amazingly well and clean up a rug full of dog hair in seconds. Every vacuuming makes the rug look like new, this is truly without exaggeration. The floor attachment is very handy on hard wood floors (isn't as bulky and heavy as the motorized head and gets to tight spaces easily). Its cleaning ability is really powerful. However, after owning it for a couple of months, I have a feeling that many of its plastic parts are not durable enough and will wear out fast - something other reviewers pointed out as well. But my major concern is the odor this vacuum started releasing after only a couple of weeks of using it. The intensity of the smell goes up as the bag gets more full and the smell mostly goes away with a new bag. I've been using the most expensive HEPA bags and it's very frustrating to replace a $5 bag when it's only 30% full because of the bad odor. The smell is disturbing - it fills up the room and I have to open the windows after each vacuuming to have the smell go away.
So, to sum it up, 5 stars for effective vacuuming, 3 stars for durability and 1 star for terrible odor. If I was to make a decision again, I would probably go for the bagless version of Hoover canister, hoping that by emptying the canister after each vacuuming I wouldn't have to deal with the odor.

First, let me say that I am not one to purchase any type of products whenever something knew comes out. I buy something, use it until it falls apart. I also don't stick with the same name brand.
After 18 years, my compact Hoover needed to be replaced. I bought a new vacuum and for 18 months, I hated it. I kept thinking it was just me and I was not use to this new style of canister hanging on my shoulder. One afternoon, I was listening to a national radio talk show host that mentioned the Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum, Anniversary Edition. I came home, looked it up on Amazon, liked the price, ordered it and had it at my door in 2 days. This is the best vacuum cleaner! It is versatile, does a great job on my stairs, cleans my hardwoods and tile floors while also picking up all of the pet hair and I feel like the carpets/rugs are actually being vacuumed for the first time in a long time. The attachments are easy to take on and off, the extension handle actually stays in position with ease of placement and the canister is easy to carry/store. I love the foot press for on/off and the best part...no more wrapping the cord! No more checking the bag to see if it needs to be replaced because it has a light indicator for that.
I would recommend this vacuum to any person of any age.
