This vaccum works really well. The cord is long enough to reach from bottom to top of the stairs. It is somewhat louder then other hand-held backs, but it vaccums up the pet hair really well. The only thing I wish is that the nozzle was bigger, its hard to get in the crack of the stairs with a wide nozzle.

This little vacuum works wonders. For years I dealt with having only an upright vacuum to clean my house. It was always a total pain to try to clean the stairs with that thing. I wish I had bought this little Dirt Devil a long time ago. It is very powerful and makes my stairs look like new. It's also the first tool that has successfully and easily removed all of the cat hair from my curtains. The tool attachments connect a bit odd, but I'll still use my upright for those applications. I bought this model specifically to clean stairs, upholstery, and curtains, and it exceeded all my expectations at doing those jobs!

I got this vacuum as a wedding present, and hands down, it takes the bacon as the BEST wedding present in the world! No matter how hard I tried in the past, I could never fully get the cat hair off my couch and rug (cat hair sticks to these items like velcro; I would have to manually hand-pick the fur off). Now, with this wonderful vacuum, the hair comes off the couch and rug in seconds and they almost seem new again! The first time I used the vacuum, I vacuumed practically everything in the house and was smiling ear-to-ear (not something that I usually do when cleaning). And when I dump the fur out when I'm finished, there is so much hair, it is almost like a new cat is born! This vacuum is a miracle and so far, I have not had any problems (although it does get hot, so I have a feeling that it shouldn't be used for too long at one time).

I ordered this hand vac because it got a lot of good reviews, very few bad, mostly about the small dirt cup and the belt. My experience had nothing to do with either issue. The first one I ordered started spewing little black pieces of rubber. I assumed it was the belt because of the other reviews, but it turned out to be the roller itself. The belt was perfectly fine, but the roller around the belt was melted and shredded. And this is only after 10 minutes of running it. I assumed it was a faulty roller, and sent the hand vac back and got a replacement. I tried only using it for 5 minutes at a time, allowing it to cool off before using it again. But the exact same problem with the roller happened. It was shredded. This is not something that can be fixed, so I had to return two hand vacs, and wasted 2 weeks of my time.

Every time I use this vacuum I am shocked by how much dog hair it picks up off the couches! If I vacuum once a week for 2 months I would have enough fur to build another dog. This thing works great. I give the cushions and couch a once over and the fur is gone, the only thing that would work better would be to keep the darn dog off the furniture (but try to tell that to a Whippet!). If you have pet hair on your furniture, I highly recommend this powerful little vac.
