Great Vacuum July 28, 2010 J. Paskett (Idaho) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As this vacuum has been quite thoroughly reviewed I will just add a few brief insights. I have had the vacuum for several weeks now, and I am all around extremely pleased with my purchase.
There are a few things that were not listed in any of the previous reviews that I have read, that I would like to comment on.
Upright: One of the best things about this vacuum that I really had no expectation of is the ability to vacuum under low set pieces of furniture. My previous vacuum a Eureka Boss 4870HZ, was exceptionally heavy and bulky. It would not vacuum well under low set furniture, such as coffee tables, beds etc. The Hoover Platinum's handle literally drops to the floor and the face of the vacuum is low enough to fit under most of the furniture in my house that I previously had to move to vacuum or just not vacuum for long periods of time. The stair handle works great and really allows you to vacuum stairs each time you vacuum the as the upright is so light and the process is effortless. Finally one major difference that I noticed from my old vacuum to this was the quality of the bristles on the brush. They are much stiffer than my last vac and really do a great job of brushing/refreshing the carpet as the roller spins.
Canister: I will start by saying, using a separate vacuum to pick things up in the those hard to reach places is a much more pleasant experience than lugging an upright around with a hose that comes out of it. The canister is very light and comfortable. The suction is surprisingly strong for such a small unit. Also I very much like the design of the telescoping wand, (it has a notched track that telescopes an additional 2/3rds the length of the extension.) The only complaint that I have with the canister is the extra space it takes up in the closet that I keep my vacuum in. However I think that the additional space taken up is a reasonable price to pay for all of the benefits of such a great vacuum set.
Overall I would unequivocally recommend the Hoover Platinum upright and canister to friends and family without hesitation. Not to mention the price is fantastic! If you want to actually enjoy vacuuming or, like me, you are the type of person who gets great satisfaction from well cleaned carpet, you will like this vacuum.
Love it! July 27, 2010 Earl R. Wilt (Wilmington, DE) This is the best vacuum I ever used. Replaced a Hoover Elite Windtunnel.
Pros:
Works great over carpet and hard floors. No need to stoop down and change heights for different floors.
Long cord that wraps easily.
Nice light.
Great looking.
Sounds cool.
Light and easily maneuverable
Quality feel all around.
Canister:
Light and powerfull.
quality attachments.
Easy to use.
Cons: None
Amazon.com had the best price by far and the vacuum was delivered withing two days. Can't beat it.
Rated #1 in Consumer Reports 2010 buying guide at $400.
Just get it.
Goodbye Consumer Reports July 26, 2010 cleaning lady Incredibly easy to operate. No more arm wrestling with the previous vacuum which was highly rated by Consumer Reports. Picks up stubborn dog hair and moves gracefully from carpet to hardwood.
Power and Ease July 22, 2010 Paul Stanley (Germantown, TN) The Hoover Platinum Lightweight Upright is a great vacuum. First, I would recommend a vacuum with a bag. For some reason the bag less vacuums don't get the job done. This vacuum is not only lightweight but does great on stairs. The canister vacuum is good for hard floors and hard to reach areas. I would definitely buy this vacuum again but hope it lasts for years.
awesome July 21, 2010 "T" I've had the oreck which I loved, but this is so much nicer...
it's so wonderful (believe it or not) to actually vaccum now!
