So far this machine is working well.
Pros: I like the bagless system, the cost, the height level for carpet, the option to turn off the brush while using the hose, the turbo brush works well on steps, it works well on tile & wood floors.
Cons: heavy when going up stairs, the hose is not that long which means you have to carry the machine down the steps.
Overall, I am happy with this. My BF has the animal dyson & it is amazing & I loved it, but for the cost I can't imagine spending that much $$$. I have had a Eureka for 9+ years & still works great, just wanted to go to the bagless system cuz my son has asthma. I hope in the long run I won't be disappointed.

Who knew picking out a new vacuum cleaner would be so time consuming! After an hour of reading through reviews and asking for friends' advice, I decided on this Bissell. It was delivered the next day even though shipping was supposed to take 2 days. I took it home and assembled it, which only took about 10 minutes. The first test was to put the turbo brush attachment on and vacuum my cat hair-covered sofa, which worked great! My house is all hardwood floors except for one room which has carpet. Worked great on both surfaces. Suction was great - in fact balls of cat hair were being sucked into the vacuum cleaner from 6 inches away! My only complaint is that it's a bit heavy, which is only a problem because my storage is one flight down, but other than that, works very well. Oh, and the instructions don't come in Spanish, so I'll have to teach my cleaning lady how to use it. This is my first bagless cleaner, and I found emptying the canister very easy. No idea how it will hold up, but so far, so good. Glad I didn't spend the $ on a Dyson!
Good vacuum, Doesn't clog easily July 21, 2010

This vacuum cleaner works great! I can't believe how much extra dirt/cat hair it sucked up compared to our old vacuum. My carpets look SO clean after I vacuum now, I love it!
The only complaints I have about it is that it's hard to clean the corners of your house, and underneath things. Running the vacuum along the edge of the wall there is about a inch space that it doesn't vacuum. So I have to get down with the hand wand and clean along the walls. It also doesn't go underneath couches/coffee tables very well. The tires in back get stuck against the couch/table VERY easily, so you have to muscle it back out from underneath them.
Other than those two things, this vacuum cleaner is awesome. We have an infant that just started crawling, and I feel a million times better after I vacuum with this. I know that it's picked up EVERYTHING on the carpet (without having to go over it a bunch of times). I also love the fact that it purifies the air while vacuuming. I don't worry about vacuuming with her nearby anymore.
I would definitely recommend this! In the next model they should definitely add an extension to one of the sides so that this gets along the walls and underneath items. I would give it 5* if it did.

Got 2 Bissells in less than 30 days (this one and the 'ProLite' one), and both had the same problem. It worked great the first time or even two, but after that it started making a loud vibrating noise. Every time it was used the noise got louder; it didn't sound like it was going to last more than a month (and keep in mind this is standard cleaning; the house is relatively clean, so this shouldn't have been an issue especially for a brand new vacuum - make that 2 brand new Bissells). I don't plan on ever buying another Bissell again.

I've never had a Dyson (can't afford it), but this was worth the double what I've paid for vacuum cleaners in the past. Despite its weight, it's very agile (if I can say such a thing about a machine) and swift. As I've read in other reviews, the suction is great and I discovered all sorts of sand and even carpet remnant particles my last vacuum did not pick up. It's easy to use, and takes less than half an hour to put together. One of the cord rungs already popped off, but that was my fault; it clipped right back on easily and sturdily, despite coming off. I haven't used the floor setting, but the carpet settings seem fine. And, my son seems less afraid of it... a bit quieter than others I've owned. Nice pleasing color, too!
